IMO DCS (Data Collection System)
IMO DCS is a regulation on the collection, reporting and verification of information such as fuel consumption of ships, which came into effect on March 1, 2018 based on the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973 and its 1978 Protocol(MARPOL Annex VI Reg.22 & 22A).
All ships over 5,000GT engaged in international navigation shall develop SEEMP Part Ⅱ which includes data collection methodologies and obtain approval from the Administration or a recognized organization(RO) by December 31, 2018.
From 2019, the ships should collect annual data on fuel oil consumption, distance travelled, hours underway and other data of the ships in accordance with SEEMP Part II. The collected data should be reported and verified every year from 2020. Subsequently, the ships shall keep Statement of Compliance(SoC) onboard.
