Eco-friendly machinery technologies
2) Research for automatic control system
3) Experiment of vapor recovery and combustion system
Korean Register has developed the ship vapor treatment system which correlates with IMO MARPOL ANNEX VI Regulation 15. Utilizing the practical VOC analysis result and considering the explosion safety factors, we have various experience of ship vapor recovery unit(SVRU) and ship vapor combustion unit(SVCU). In future, we predict the VOC system will be equipped on all tankers, KR will provide reliable technical support.

2) Development of Guidance for next-generation power system on board of ships
KR established test facility to study feasibility of applying next-generation power system to ships and has tested performance and safety of the next-generation power system.
KR developed ‘Guidance for Fuel Cell Systems on Board od Ships’ based on KR own experience, data and technologies, and is developing guidance for other next-generation power systems.
By using the test facility, KR will provide test service to evaluate performance and safety of components in next-generation power system. Also, KR will provide technical support to apply the customer’s products related next-generation power system to ships through the guidance developed.

2) FMEA on electric propulsion system
KR analyzed technology status on core equipment (Motor for propulsion, frequency converter, Li-ion battery, etc.) on board of electric propulsion/battery ship, and has studied evaluation technology for development of guidance. In addition, KR suggested design improvement direction to the customers after FEMA on electric propulsion system.
Based on expertise on electric propulsion/battery ship and technology obtained through FMEA, KR will provide technical service to the customers to apply electric propulsion and battery system to ships.

2) FMEA on liquefied hydrogen carrier
KR has studied liquefied hydrogen carrier by interchanging information with marine equipment industries.
KR will provide technical support to the customers about design and operation of liquefied hydrogen carrier through FEMA on liquefied hydrogen carrier and guidance for that in the future.
