The Marine Environment Protection Committee, held its 70th session at the IMO HQ from 24 to 28 October 2016. The decisions made by MEPC 70 were published in our News Flash which contained a summary of the main information and outcomes from the committee meeting. We are now releasing MEPC 70 – News Final; as a follow-up which contains the overall outcomes of the session and the applicable measures. Please make use of the reference data for the relevant subject. In particular, we would like to note that each amendment to the MARPOL Convention will be effective as of 1 March 2018,
and any guidelines adopted as a ‘Resolution’ will be effective immediately.
