Mr. Lee Woon-ho of KR was elected as the chairman of the ISO/Technical Committee 8(TC8)/Sub-committee (SC3) in the member country on 9 December 2016.   

The ISO/TC 8 deals with the ‘Ships and marine technology’ section and SC3 covers ‘Piping and machinery’, Mr. Lee was elected with more than two thirds of the votes of the members for his achievements when he worked as vice chairman of these committees.

Mr. Lee graduated from Korea University in 1981 and later gained a master’s degree in engineering and Professional Engineer Shipbuilding. He is an expert in machinery and shipbuilding and marine equipment. He has gained abundant experience by attending multiple international meetings such as IACS technical committees and has held various positions including General Manager of the Machinery Team, Marine & Ocean Equipment

Team and Branch office manager in KR’s Kobe office. 

With his election, KR expects to contribute to the progress of the industry and to raise its international profile by leading the establishment of international shipbuilding standards and the marine sector.  

The chairman is elected for a three year term from 1 January 2017 and can serve consecutive terms of up to a maximum of nine years.
