KR’s statutory system certification team and survey team hold a successful ISM, ISPS, MLC and PSC seminar
On 18 November 2021, KR’s statutory system certification team and survey team jointly held a “2021 ISM/ISPS/MLC and PSC seminar” sharing expertise about vessel safety, security and crew management, as well as the latest PSC trends and appropriate PSC countermeasures.
The 2021 ISM/ISPS/MLC and PSC seminar was held in KR’s Integrated Survey Center (ISC) and was delivered via online webinar, for the safety of all attendees in light of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.
More than 150 people, including shipping companies’ executives and those employees in charge of safety, security and crew management attended in the seminar. The contents of the seminar was as follows.

1. The latest information on ISM/ISPS/MLC and flag state trends (from principal surveyor, BAEK Taeyeol, Statutory System Certification Team
2. Amendments to Korean laws, including the Ship Safety Act (from principal surveyor, PARK Miyoung, Statutory Service Team)
3. Recent PSC trends and PSC countermeasures (from principal surveyor, IM Jinsung, Survey Team)
4. Introduction to the KR ISC (KR Integrated Survey Center) (from principal surveyor, IM Jinsung, Survey Team)
5. Shipping companies’ response strategies to the Severe Accident Punishment Act (from principal surveyor, SONG Kwonsik, Sustainability Management Certification Center)
The general managers from KR’s Statutory System Certification Team and Survey Team welcomed feedback from customers, including their opinions on different topics and specific requests as they discussed effective ways to manage shipping companies’ safety and relevant technical information. The attendees asked many questions about the Severe Accident Punishment Act, which has attracted public attention.
KR will continue to hold regular seminars to share ISM/ISPS/MLC technical information and to exchange opinions with shipping companies.
