The Korea Institute of Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment (KOMERI) has announced that it signed an "MOU for the research, development and testing of explosion proof equipment relating to International Explosion Proof Certification (IECEx)” with KR Hellas Korea on September 14th.
The business agreement ceremony was held at the Ulsan headquarters of KOMERI with 10 people including the president of KOMERI, Bae Jung-chul, the vice president of KOMERI, Kang Dong-hyuk, CEO of KR Hellas Korea, Kim Young-kyun, and the team manager of KR Hellas Korea, Song Young-soo in attendance.
The MOU will cover:
△ Acquisition of IECEx certificate through testing/evaluation
△ Research and development into explosion-proof safety of eco-friendly fuels
(hydrogen, ammonia, methane, etc.)
△ Technology exchanges and education to expand the explosion-proof market in shipbuilding
and marine industry
△ Research cooperation and support for small companies developing business models to
increase the exports of domestic explosion-proof equipment.
Bae Jung-chul, the president of KOMERI, said "With the support of Ulsan city government, we have successfully completed the construction of the Long-life Technology Support Center and Explosion Proof Facility Center. Using the nation’s biggest explosion proof chamber which is 3m in diameter, we will lead the development of explosion safety technology and it’s application to products developed in the region and will do our best to support related companies”.
Kang Dong-hyuk, the vice president of KOMERI, said “We will develop a comprehensive business model, creating technologies and test certification services to become a leading organization specializing in explosion proof safety.”
Kim Young-kyun, the CEO of KR Hellas Korea said, "KR Hellas is able to award IECEx and ATEX certifications which are the representative international explosion-proof certificates. We will provide the best explosion-proof certification services exceeding customer satisfaction based on the excellent technology and test facilities of both organizations.”
