In 2019, KR has developed a new regulation that applies the concept of EDW(Equivalent Design Wave) revising the existing structure rules for membrane-type LNG carriers. The new LNG regulations are focused on enabling the optimized design of structural components as well as enhancing the structural stability of ship.

The new LNG rules are reflected in SeaTrust-HullScan software, which allows designers from shipyard to easily apply to their designs and shorten design time, enabling the design of safer and more efficient LNG carriers as a result.

Following the development of the new LNG regulations, in January, KR jointly develops Membrane-Type LNG carrier with three world-class shipyards in Korea that have the world's best LNG-building technology by signing MOUs. And these projects successfully completed in July, 2020.
