On 29 June, KR presented 30 million won (25,000 USD) in scholarships to six elementary, middle and high schools located near KR’s Busan headquarters.
KR, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, made the donation to encourage the educational development of future employees in the shipbuilding and shipping industries and to support the local community.
The scholarships will be used as development funds by each school, covering the repair and expansion of educational facilities, the purchase of educational equipment and books, support for physical education and arts activities, and student welfare.
Myungsik Kim, Head of KR’s Administrative Planning Division, said, “Corona 19 has severely impacted students and dramatically affected their teaching, I hope this scholarship will help support students education in these unprecedented times.”
KR is also working to support the community in other ways too, with the presentation of educational equipment including computers and monitors, and through time and skills donated by employees.
