Summary:"Illness of a person onboard any vessel that may adversely affect the safety of a vessel or port facility is a hazardous condition per 33 CFR 160.216 and must be reported immediately to the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP)."

- MSIB No.06-20 : Vessel reporting requirements for illness or death
- MSIB No.09-20 : Vessel inspection, exams, and documentation
In regard to PSC Exams in MSIB No.09-20, it was stated that The Coast Guard will not issue deficiencies or detain vessels for expired certificates, documents or mariner credentials until October 1, 2020.
To avoid any misunderstanding, please be informed that any expired certificates, documents or mariner credentials should be properly dealt with according to the Administration Instruction in advance, to avoid unexpected PSC deficiency or detention.
