KR has put in place various measures to assist our customers and to help them deal effectively with the difficulties brought on by the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which is causing major disruption in many countries.

Health precautions

KR is committed to reducing the spread of the COVID-19 and protecting the health of our staff members, customers and communities we serve. 

As a result, we have instructed our staff members to:

■ monitor developments, remain vigilant and comply with the instructions of local, regional and national authorities;   
■ work from home on a bi-weekly basis;
■ suspend all business travels which are considered non-essential until further notice;
■ wear facial masks when working in the offices (including visitors); and
■ refrain from gathering in a group at a workplace, including after work hours

Update on KR services 

As you are well aware, in an attempt to limit the spread of COVID-19, many countries have implemented special entry and exit and movement restrictions for their territories. 

New restrictions could be imposed anytime which could lead to further limitations on the movement of people and disruption of essential services in certain areas.

In cases where our surveyor is not able to attend the vessel as scheduled, due to restrictions imposed by the relevant authorities, KR will administratively grant an extension of class surveys for one month or the period of a voyage to the next port, whichever is longer, without the attendance. 

In addition, you may request the following surveys to be conducted remotely:

■ Continuous machinery survey (CMS) 
■ Three-month extension of shaft survey
■ Three-month extension of boiler survey 
■ Minor damage survey
■ Outstanding Condition of Class (COC), or confirmation of repairs done for deficiencies or corrective actions

Force majeure extensions can also be granted for vessels scheduled to dry-dock for repairs or renewal surveys in the areas acutely affected by COVID-19. In these cases, KR will also contact the concerned flag administration to seek their agreement on the extension of relevant statutory certificates as required.

 
KR is committed to ensure that its classed vessels continue to trade to keep the global supply chain moving so that the goods can be delivered, particularly to the people who are gravely affected by COVID-19. 

To this end, KR will do its utmost to remain fully operational and accessible to our valued clients during these difficult and disrupting times.
