KR has held its annual technical seminar and committee meeting in Athens, Greece for maritime business officials in the region.
The technical seminar which was held on 11 November was attended by representatives from 60 shipping companies and shipyards, alongside academics, and officials from the Greek and neighboring regions.
The event focused on the outlook for alternative fuels for eco-friendly ships, the regulations on sulphur content in fuels (low sulphur fuel and exhaust cleaning devices), and the regulations on SOx 2020.
The implementation of the International Maritime Organization’s global sulphur cap comes into force in just a few weeks, and KR’s experts were able to answer any last minute questions relating to this.
Following the technical seminar, the KR Hellenic Committee (KRHC) meeting held on 12 November welcomed about 40 members from maritime related industries, including the major shipping companies in Greece and neighboring regions. The meeting discussed the major issues currently affecting the maritime business industry.
Kostas Triantafyllos was invited to attend the KRHC, a market analysis specialist from George Moundreas & Company S.A., a world-renowned shipbuilding and shipping analyst, he provided an in depth examination of the current status of the marine business market.
The annual KR Hellas Night was attended by 250 people from across the maritime business community, including Soosuk Lim, the Greek ambassador, the KR Hellenic Committee members and a wide range of marine business professionals.
Jeong-kie Lee, Chairman & CEO of KR, said: "The marine industry now faces an era of great change, as a result of strengthened environmental regulations and the fourth industrial revolution," adding that: "KR will continue to share its expertise and advice on the latest trends and important technological information at home and abroad in order to support its customers across the marine business community, wherever they are in the world.”
After the KRHC, KR held a specialist technical seminar for maritime industry officials in Istanbul, Turkey, on 14 November.
