[1] Increase in Port state control detentions experienced by Singaporean ships

Singapore ships have been subject to an increase in port state control detentions in early 2019, as a result the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has issued a notification to raise awareness of this undesirable situation. Your precautionary measures are requested, as appropriate.

[2] Mooring Safety Campaign targets foreign flagged vessels calling at OSAKA Ports in Japan

To prevent mooring operations-related accidents, the Kinki District Transport Bureau (OSAKA) will be launching a ‘Mooring Safety Campaign’ aimed at foreign flagged vessels calling at OSAKA Ports in Japan (effective date not established).

Additional inspections will be conducted on lashing bridges and platforms with handrails in a normal condition, which allow stevedores access for correct container securing, and compressor covers for reefer containers.
