The Ballast Water Management Convention was adopted at IMO and entered into force, and all the vessels under the Convention which choose regulation D-2 standard as their ballast management measure, are installing ballast water management systems on board. However, there is no guidance clearly summarizing the considerations of ship type, voyage and the other matters. Therefore, KR has published this guidance to focus on the characteristics of each BWMS type, considerations for retrofit, operation and maintenance and check points for surveys that should be recognized by shipowners including crews and surveyors.
