The Marine Environment Protection Committee held its 72nd session at IMO HQ on 9-13 April 2018.

Regarding the decisions made at MEPC 72, we have already published the MEPC 72 – ‘News Flash’, which contains information about the main and summarized outputs from the Committee.

We are now releasing MEPC 72 – ‘News Final’ with information about the wider outcomes of the session and resulting actions.  The notice contains detailed results on the Committee discussions, please make use of the reference data for the relevant subject.

Please note that the amendments to the MARPOL Convention and related mandatory instruments will be effective as of 1 Jan. 2019, 13 Oct. 2019 or 1 Jan. 2020, and also, the guidelines adopted as a ‘Resolution’ will be effective immediately.
