With the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SOC) Summit on June 10, it is reported that overall security measures (not in line with ISPS Code nor CIC) are being implemented in Qingdao (East China's Shandong Province) to deter security threats, as from May, unauthorized access to the area will not be permitted.

As from May 20, enhanced security procedures will be applied to all inbound vessels to Qingdao with an increased PSCO presence. Those vessels which fail to comply with the security requirements run the risk of being prohibited from entering the areas ports.

Ship owners and operators are urged to ensure that their ships entering ports in the region are fully prepared for the comprehensive security measures implemented in China, and will be updated as further details become available.
