In an effort to mitigate an increase in PSC detentions with the following deficiencies, owners/operators of vessels are strongly encouraged to have all required documentation onboard with a proper written record, and to ensure that their critical equipment has been tested periodically and is in good working condition prior to arrival into ports in the major MOU regions.

PSC Detentions: 

 False entries in oil record book (U.S) :
- Different from bilge/sludge sounding log and oil record book  
- Historical data retrieval from OCM not available
- Operation of OWS not recorded 

 Emergency generator Load Test Failure (Australia)
: An emergency generator load test should be conducted periodically prior to arrival into ports, and photos of it with the date and Kilowatt (Kw) output produced, should be posted on or near the Emergency Switchboard(ESBD) as evidence, in case the generator is not operational during a PSC inspection, which is likely to increase the chances of being detained under the inspection.
