KR has delivered a range of bespoke client seminars tailored to the needs of different clients, and focusing on different vessel types.
The seminars showcased a range of innovations introduced by the class society, helping to differentiate KR from its competitors by adding value to its clients’ businesses.
[KR China Headquarters] Technical Seminar on Ship Structural Analysis
The KR China Headquarters held a ship structural analysis seminar for ship design companies and shipowners from 24 - 25 January 2018.
The seminar referred to the newbuilding of the 62K DWT OHGCV*, Pan Ocean, and took place at the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co.
KR examined some of the problems discovered during the ship structural analysis and discussed possible solutions with the attendees.

[KR Ulsan Office] Newbuilding Seminar on International Passenger Ships
The KR Ulsan office arranged a newbuilding seminar on 25 - 26 January, for the staff of Weidong Ferry’s to discuss the company’s passenger ship which is being built in the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
KR provided the staff with details of the design standards and conventions for the ship and the survey checkpoints, as well as conducting an in-depth discussion on different hot topics across the industry.
[KR Ulsan Office] First-half 2018 Technical Seminar for QM of Hyundai Heavy
Industries
The KR Ulsan office held a technical seminar for the QM (Quality Management Division) in Hyundai Heavy Industries on 30 January 2018.
The seminar included training on the KR Rule part 2 amendments applied by IACS URW32, a qualification scheme for welders which was recently revised significantly.
[KR Geoje Office] PSC Seminar for SK Shipping Before Delivery of KC-1 LNG
Carrier
The KR Geoje Office delivered a PSC technical seminar to the staff from SK Shipping, on 1 February 2018.
The seminar focused on the KC-1 cargo containment system (CCS) for the new LNG carrier, which Korea holds the source technology for. The discussion covered preparations for port state control (PSC) inspections from the USCG, before entry into the US. The seminar attendees studied the USCG PSC checklist for the carrier which is currently being built by Samsung Heavy Industries.
