1. LNG bunkering applies to the technology, business, and related facilities that reliably and  

   efficiently refuel LNG, a clean fuel, on board marine vessels.

   The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has recently significantly strengthened

   regulations regarding the emissions of marine fuels, so the use of LNG as a marine fuel is

   attracting more attention.

2. As a result KR has established the “Guidelines for Floating LNG Bunkering Terminals” to

   support KR’s surveyors, shipyards and ship owners’ understanding of the LNG Bunkering

   process. The guidelines will clarify the requirements for survey, design, hull and machinery

   which apply to LNG bunkering terminals (barges) contracted on or after 1 January 2018.
