KR co-hosted a successful vetting forum with INTERTANKO at KR’s headquarters in Busan, Korea on 16 November.
This was the first such forum held in Busan, Korea. It was was formally opened by Mr. J. K. Lee, the chairman and CEO of KR. Presentations were delivered by Mr. Tim Wilkins (Environment Director, INTERTANKO), Capt. Marius Van Westerhuis (Shell International Eastern Trading Company (SIETCO)), Capt. Noor Ismail Osman (Vetting Manager Secondee), INTERTANKO), Mr. Ajay Gour (Senior Manager, Vetting & Chemical, INTERTANKO) and Mr. Min-Young Jeong (Deputy Senior Surveyor, KR).
The presentations were followed by a Q&A session offering the delegates an opportunity to discuss a variety of important issues with the panel.
The forum was open to both INTERTANKO member and non-member companies and was attended by over 100 delegates.
The Q&A session was moderated by Mr. Gour. An electronic “Q & A” platform allowed delegates to submit questions for discussions in both English and Korean. All presentations and the Q&A session were supported by a live interpretation service provided by KR. This was welcomed
by all attendees and allowed a number of issues to be brought up for discussion.
Mr. Wilkins provided an overview of INTERTANKO, its governance and its work programme.
Mr. Gour and Capt. Noor Ismail provided an overview of the work being done by INTERTANKO regarding the challenges faced by industry for ship inspections and vetting as well as the work being done to help members understand and implement revisions to TMSA3 and MESQAC.
Capt. Van Westerhuis from SIETCO provided an overview of Shell’s Marine Assurance policies and philosophies of Shell and an overview of their programme “partnership towards a zero-incident industry”.
Mr. Min-Young Jeong from KR Statutory System Certification Team provided an overview of the activities being undertaken and services being provided by KR for ship inspections and vetting.
INTERTANKO conducts these forums around the world, they are a platform for members to have open and free discussions about challenges faced, vetting related issues, and any other operational issues they may wish to discuss.
KR works closely with companies across the maritime industry continuously endeavors to provide opportunities for customers to discuss and share important information and issues with renowned international organisations and other customers.
