Zhejiang, China
On 4-5 July, the KR Ningbo office delivered onsite training on PSC (Port State Control) checklist items for Shengsi Maritime Safety Administration (MSA). The training was requested by Shengsi MSA and was provided to help prevent PSC detentions of KR classed ships.
Shengsi MSA governs the port facilities in three areas: Majishan, Yangshan and Luhuashan – which our clients’ VLOCs frequently enter. These areas also act as onsite training centers of MSA PSCO/FSCO (Port State Control Officer/Freight Container Safety Ordinance).
The training was provided for three PSCOs and six FSCOs at the request of personnel in charge of PSC checks in Shengsi MSA, and was implemented using KR’s PSC Checklist.
Their Chinese counterparts welcomed KR’s up-to-date technical information and the donation of KR-CON and agreed to keep collaborating with each other by sharing PSC check trends in the relevant areas.
The KR Ningbo office will continue to monitor port authority trends and make every effort to prevent disruption to client ships.

● Visiting Dao Shipping (12 July 2017)
● Meeting with the General Secretary of IMO (11 July 2017)
Qingdao, China
KR’s Qingdao office visited Weihai Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) located in Shandong, China as one of their measures to strengthen collaboration with PSCs and to prevent PSC detentions of KR classed ships.
The meeting was attended by three PSCOs including the director from Weihai MSA and a KR delegation from the Qingdao office. Representatives from Weihai MSA expressed their gratitude for the donation of KR-CON and promised continuous cooperation. In addition, Weihai MSA presented the results of PSC checks on KR-classed ships including major targets ships, and items to be checked under KR’s newly introduced special inspections on converted ships.
KR’s Qingdao office will work continuously to maintain cooperative relationships with PSCOs in China, and will always look to provide a prompt and efficient service to its client ships in the area.
