KR and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) have signed a Mutual Cooperation MoU for joint R&D in response to regulations relating to the marine environment and the prevention of marine accidents.
Alongside a national endeavor to prevent marine accidents and to seek measured regulation of greenhouse gases and emissions, the MoU aims to ‘exchange technology
relevant to safe and economic operation of ships and responses to regulations for emission, and joint utilization of human resources and infrastructure’.
KR’s research center is now carrying out joint research on ‘technology development of SOx Scrubber application to ship’, chosen as one of the research subjects in 2017. With the implementation of this recently signed MoU, KR will also work on research of ‘ship
operation assistance and establishment of data infrastructure’.
With this joint research, KR expects to play a more important role in the market of ship operation software and technology that responds to environment regulation – promising to deliver quality services to clients.
