KR has delivered a range of bespoke practical client seminars which have focused on specific vessel types relevant to each client.
The seminars are one of a range of innovations introduced by the class society to help differentiate KR from its competitors by adding value to its clients’ business.
Client meeting for tug boat shipping companies
The KR office in Jangsaengpo held a client meeting specifically for tug boat shipping companies and conducted an open discussion with clients convention amendments and the details relevant to the survey preparation guide.
The meeting included a “Survey Q & A” session to encourage feedback from customers while delivering valuable information on “Recent Convention Amendments (including the Ballast Water Management convention which will come into effect on 8 September 2017)” and an “Introduction on Survey Preparation Guide and tips for its practical use”.

Technical seminar on PSCO Guidelines and BWMS for Chinese
maritime bureaus
KR’s China headquarters held a seminar introducing ways to develop guidelines and a check list for PSCO (port state control officer) use and BWMS (ballast water management systems) at the request of the Chinese maritime bureaus.
KR’s China office developed and shared its MARPOL IV Sewage Guidelines for PSCO use together with training on the subject, at the request of the Yangshan maritime bureau. KR also provided a technical seminar on BWMS for the Nanjing maritime bureau.

With these services, KR’s China headquarters expects to contribute to the progress of survey technology amongst the Chinese maritime bureaus, building a promising and productive relationship between the Chinese maritime bureau and KR in the process.
IHM theory training and site training for Danaos Corporation
KR’s Environment & Piping Team and KR’s China headquarters’ Technical Support Team has delivered onsite training on the subject of “Inventory of Hazardous Materials” at the request of Danaos Corporation.

The training took place in Zhoushan COSCO in China and Danaos Corporation expressed its gratitude for the quick response to their request and hopes there will be future cooperation on a variety of projects ahead.
Passenger ship safety training for Iranian PSCO
KR’s Tehran Office has carried out “Passenger ship safety education and field training” for Iranian PSCOs in Bandar Abbas Ports & Marine Organisation (PMO).
The training was attended by approximately 20 PSCOs and took place at the request of the Iran PMO to ensure the safety of passenger ships ahead of two weeks covering the Iranian new year holidays which will see a temporary increase in passengers. Two surveyors from KR and the Iranian Classification Society delivered the training based on SOLAS and KR rules and onboard training.

Client meeting for SINOKOR
KR’s Changwon office held a client meeting for SINOKOR and presented a briefing on CLEAN Notation for its vessels which are built in STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
KR briefed them on CLEAN Notation for their 74K oil/chemical tanker which is now being built and took part in a Q&A session regarding the necessary items when applying notations for the ship.
Concluding the meeting, KR promised to provide prompt and precise technical support and the clients expressed their trust in and satisfaction with KR’s services and
surveyors’ assistance.
